Blue Angels tribute F8F Bearcat.
On Sept. 29, 1946, Slot Pilot Lt. j.g. Ross "Robby" Robinson failed to recover from a dive while performing a Cuban Eight maneuver at NAS Jacksonville, and was killed. Robinson died only four shows before the end of the season. Lt. Robinson was the 1st Angel, of a total of 27 to date.
The color scheme is representative of the 1949 Blue Angels scheme, which sports the "original" Blue angel script and original logo (but I didn't see added picture before uploading the CS - the Blue Angel shield was behind the names, not under it), both used by the team - designed in 1949, before switching to the F9F-2 Panther. Also the Lighter "Blue Angel" blue didn't show up until the F9F's ...
