1939 Marine F4F Wildcat
The Wildcat held the line against formidable odds in the early Pacific Theater
I worked up these color schemes to Do Justice to Cowboys great old F4F from G4, and to the memory of the guys that flew them….
The Marines received a precious handful of Wildcats before the war, as most Fighter Squadrons were equipped with the Brewster Buffalo…Some were even still flying the Grumman F3F Biplane as late as 1940.
This represents the Singular Wildcat of Marine Fighting 1, based at Marine Corps Air Station San Diego circa 1939-1940.
