History: Based upon the original soviet model Jak-1, the series 3 was reduced in wingspan and especially weight, by changing the aerodynamical shape of series 1, transferring technical parts into the inner fuselage and making use of a differnt building technology. These changes resulted in the lightest fighter of the Second World War.
