George Miller (Katonka) used this Waco on movie locations for practice and set up flying. The first time he brought it out, the razzing by the people on location started. All related to the pilot "Paulene", named after his wife.
"Of course your wife looks like that, Right" "In your wildest dreams she is built like that" On and on, and George never really said much about it.
After about two weeks of shooting, George was finally allowed to bring his wife out on location. She was all dolled up and in a low cut summer dress. Jaws dropped, you could hear pins drop, and George still didn't say anything. But the attitude about the "Paulene Plane" was sure changed on that day.
Not much more than the picture of the Waco and Paulene is needed as far as the theme of this new plane goes.
"Paulene" was created for RealFlight by Doug Kaye (DHK79), based on his WACO YMF-5. The needed changes to the 3D model and the pilot animation were also by Doug. The colorscheme was a joint effort between Doug and George, with George doing the changes to the aircraft and Doug working on the pilot.
