The SG-2 Kékmadár (Blue Bird) was a Hungarian two-seater training and tourer aircraft of the 1950's. Low gull-wing cantilever monoplane of wooden construction powered by a Hirth HM 504A four-cylinder inverted air-cooled engine providing a top speed of 220 km/h.
It was designed in 1948 by Béla Samu and Pál Gönczy on the Danubian Aircraft Factory for a tender of Hungarian National Aviation Association (OMRE) to meet the needs of the Army for school training. The construction of the prototype was started in 1949 in the Danubian Aircraft Factory and has been completed in the Csepel Car Factory. The first flight took place on the Tököl airfield on January 3, 1950. The aircraft was intended for basic training of the Hungarian Air Force.
By political decision, however, the hungarian air force modernization has been based on soviet flying technology and the hungarian aircraft developpement was aborted. The only prototype built was acquired later by the Museum of Transport of Budapest, shown today on the Aviation and Space Exhibition department.
