Wing Config B: Pos 0 closed = Cruise, pos 1 = Mid, pos 2 open = Attack.
Rates C: Pos 2 = Normal, pos 1 = High Rates, pos 0 Low Rates & Hyperdrive. (Throttle must remain above 3/4 when in hyperdrive)

Keep in mind that you can takeoff and land like a conventional airplane prior to attempting vertical takeoffs and landings. Forward flight switch D pos 0 - Retract gear A to retract speed brakes and accelerate forward.
