3ds Max Indie Version

There's now a 3ds Max Indie license. Here's a cut and paste.

Now, recent graduates, freelancers, hobbyists and 3D artists just starting out have a more affordable way to access 3ds Max.

If you're just out of school, an indie artist, or you just love to make awesome stuff in 3D, you could be eligible to subscribe to 3ds Max Indie. Create like a pro at a price you can afford.


After you get to the purchase page you'll see a one-year subscription is $290.00.

There's one important thing to note if you buy the 3ds Max Indie version. Here's a cut and paste.

Note: In order to avoid an automatic renewal at the full subscription price of 3ds Max, you must turn off the automatic renewal once you subscribe to 3ds Max Indie. In order to turn off the automatic renewal setting, you must go to your Autodesk Account, and follow the instructions posted here. This offer is subject to certain restrictions.

technoid, thanks for sharing that info! I wasn't aware of that option. It might be a good one for some of you who create custom content for RealFlight.

So much software has moved or is moving toward a subscription model in place of outright ownership. I can't say I personally appreciate it, but it's a decision those companies all get to make for themselves. We deal with that a lot internally. It used to pretty much be contained to enterprise/commercial software, though, not consumer-level products.
