[84276] Full transparency in specular map causes texture issues

when the specular maps (_s) have 100% transparency. the main texture is lost. instead of no reflectiveness

If the material on object is ~ALPHA or ~SBS the texture is 100% transparent. see the DC-3 VS AC-47 enigne and tires.
If the material is not a ~ALPHA or ~SBS the texture becomes black. see the CUB

to recreate
copy a CS
open the _s map for the new CS
take the eraser and scribble some lines with the eraser
view the plane in rf and rotate the camera around

maybe I am texturing wrong but it has change since 9.5S

We believe this is fixed as of version 10.00.070. Please check it out and let us know if you still see this problem.

Thank you for bringing this to our attention. Previously I successfully tested the Piper CS, but wasn't sure what the other models were, and naively presumed the fix would apply to all the rest.

I have tracked down all the content used in your recent pics above, and reproduced what you're seeing in each of them. We'll take a fresh look at it.

I did the same and only checked piper CS.

in general matte surfaces are the most prone to it and non black surfaces show it the best.

also it the material referances the alpha channel for transparency it also looks at the _s texture as well like in the DC-3 and dywanes models.
 
Version 10.10.075 fixes the issues that led to the above examples. Please try it out and let us know if you still see any problems.

Due to the nature of this issue, it is possible it will come up somewhere else in some other custom art. If so, please report it with a link to the model(s) and we will look into it!

Legoman suggested it's the same issue. I unfortunately do not have enough savvy to know one way nor the other!
 
I'm out of time to post an announcement at the moment, but new build 10.10.076 is available now. We believe it fixes some issues with specular with normal maps off that were introduced previously. Please check it out and let us know your results!

I'm not sure if it addresses legoman's post #8 above or whether that is something separate, but it definitely helps with some other important issues so we wanted to get it out ASAP.
