Air Tractor Fire Boss

Bigger and Faster

Thanks for the reply. I like bigger and faster - always have. :)

The prop thingy is something I haven't seen before. I generally increase the power and the prop size to go with the bigger bird when I do my edits. For the AirBoss, the prop looks fine when I fly the program. However, when I made the recording (attached above), the visual on the prop did not reflect the size increase I had made.

Boof - I have wasted a whole day working on another color scheme for the airboss. My wife wishes I would cut the grass. :) I need to add a few more details before uploading. Thanks for the link to the psd files.
Your most welcome andy. Do you plan on using the bump and spec maps as well?

I am trying. I had the CS almost like I wanted it. I was fine tuning the CS using the tga ( mistake  ). I was looking for the piece on the front of the floats. That part was showing black on my model and I wanted to make it yellow. I bucket filled a spot on the lower left of the map and it colored the entire background yellow. I couldn't figure out a way to go backwards from that. I had to cut out the windows to get the model presentable again. The yellow fill also changed the color of all the spraying gear, pitot tube, etc. I think I like the yellow for those parts better than the black. I have a very recent psd that I was working with saved, so I can go backwards if I really want to. FWIW, the front of the float is still blakc. I am guessing that that is colored somewhere that I don't have access to. BTW, I made a bigger version and I have been giggling all morning while flying it. Mt wife made a comment about me "being glued to the computer". I said, "Honey, this is kinda like when you go to the casino. :D

The black tips are hard colored in max and aren't present on the map. They are black on every float pictured on the internet for the fire boss. Which is why I colored them in that way. Look at the pics for a little help Andy.

Boof,

Thanks for the instructions. Now that I know a little about what you are asking, I did not use the bump map. I used some of your graphics. I used the panel lines and rivits, but lightened the shading. One thing I noticed is that all of the detail work you did shows very well on the bigger plane, especially the fluid tank.

About the rivits, I was undecided about adding them in silver, or going back and coloring the center of each rivit. I finally decided I didn't have enough time to work the rivits, so I just colored a few of them.

I took the recording off the swap pages. I was very happy with how it turned out when viewing on my computer, but didn't realize that the airfield changes I made (widened runway, smoke emitters for a fire) wouldn't show on the recording when viewed by others.

Thanks again for a teriffic model!

There would have been an easier way to get silver rivets. If you have both supplied .psd files open go to the normals.psd and ctrl select all the rivet layers then right click on any one of them and select duplicate layers. A box will open and you can then select the CS.psd file as the destination for the layers. When you go to the CS.psd you will see the layers pasted there in perfect alignment and since they are already grey that would be all you need to do.
I'm glad to see you are enjoying my model. Your more than welcome. :)

Do you have this model still? I work here at Air Tractor and I would like to see what you have done. Thanks in advance

Neither of these Gentlemen have been relevantly active in years.

I started on the Air Tractor 2 days ago, but only got as far as setting up the image planes in Max. Was busy with family drama yesterday but was able to get some modeling done today. This will be the single seat version of the Fire Boss. I have no plans on limiting my polys. If I hit 20 k Oh well. This one has allot of do dads and such hanging off the exterior of the model so I will model as much of it as possible. With the basic airframe and cockpit roughed in I'm at 2,472 and still have floats gear and the whole lot left to go. Hopefully when I have everything modeled I will be able to go over the entire model and reduce the polys to fit some cockpit detail.
Did you ever finish this download? md09941
