Bristol M1 Build

Ok Andy here it goes. I've started the studio for the Bristol M1. I've searched around the internet for some good images of this old bird and have found an adequate amount of info including a video walk-around on youtube. There are allot of details to this one if you look close and I will try to replicate them as close as possible.
I'm finding out that if you are into multiplayer I am not the designer to follow. This one will eat up some polys and resources.
@Andy29847, I'm leaning towards a cream base color with the bulls-eye accents for the color scheme. Find as much reference as you can that will show the authentic color schemes for the M1. Also know this I will not make this an over sized model. You can do that post. Therefore if you could find some specs for the full scale airplane that would be a big help. We can discuss the final scale of this model once that information is in hand. I will scale appropriately once we figure it out.

Did some more just before bed. The wing brace tower was fun  to get joined up at the point. I'm a bit lost as to how the main gear suspension works, so I'm not sure how to model it yet. Any idea?

When I got to the steering gear of the SportCruiser, I was stumped as to how it could turn. I did a lot of research, and found out that it only turns by swiveling as you apply either the left or the right brake. I was surprised to find that out. It is interesting, the things you learn about aircraft while modeling, no?

Most definetily. I didn't know allot about aircraft just one year ago. I learn more every build.

I can only find one pic of the creme colored plane. I think that is a pic of a small model. There are lot of pics of replica full size planes. If you are going "scale" on this plane, you might need to pick a color scheme where we can find accurate documentation.

I had the Balsa USA model. I believe that the wingspan was 60". I do not have a preference for size beyond that. However, if you are going to model in a lot of detail, the results of your work will display better on big birds. :) FWIW, I am not really as for gone on on giant scale as it might seem. However, fast is important to me. :D

130mph seems very fast to me for a model. My one and only 60-sized model probably only flies 70-80 mph.

Sorry I meant the full size model did 130. The RC should do a scale version of that speed.

Fast

I initially powered the Bristol that I built with an OS48 4-stroke. It felt like scale WW1 speed with that motor. I could never get that motor to run like I expected (inverted, airflow through the cowling, fuel feed). I changed the motor to an OS32 2 stroke and flew the plane like that for at least a year. When I moved the 32 to a psudeo F-20, I hung the Bristol airframe up in my garage. Some time later, I sold the airframe to another club member (Jackson Flyers, Fort Jackson, Columbia, SC). This guy put a K&B 60 in the plane and it flew very well until the wings came off. :)

Somehow I got a chuckle out of that. Just like, "Lincoln was enjoying the play until he got shot."
