Co-ordination help

Hi guys I need some help with my co-ordination, my main problem with RCs has always been turning the right way when the RC is heading towards me. I’ve just got back to trying RC planes again and after several crashes and seeing RealFlight in action at an airshow I thought it would be a great way to try and sort my flying out.
Does anyone one have a suggestion of how I can put RF into a loop so I can build my muscle memory for flying towards me.
 
Well, the obvious one - fly towards yourself in Real Flight! Set the plane up by flying toward you as you like - where, altitude, etc. Press the "P" key and that will save it at that position. Subsequently, when you hit the reset button, the plane will start at that place/position again for you to have another go at it. Changing a plane, or a field, or restarting RF, will bring it all back to normal. Saves having to takeoff and fly around to get into position again.
Consider slowing it all down, under Setting>Physics>Difficulty>Custom tab menu item. Physics Speed will slow down how fast everything reacts.

In Real Life - turn your body (not just your head) to face the direction the plane is flying. Yes, you will be doing a bit of a dance out there on the pilot station. Coming in for a landing, you will be looking over your shoulder at the plane. As you get comfortable doing this, it will fade - maybe just twisting your shoulders a bit, rather than doing fancy footwork. To the point where to most, it doesn't look like you are doing much at all. After almost 60 yrs trying to do this, you'll still see me twisting a bit if the plane if proving to be a bit of a challenge, for a first flight, etc. For most flying, not - but it has become ingrained muscle memory that if I'm having a concern, I just start doing it.
IF you have a VR setup, you can do this too in Real Flight. But that is a leap in cost and gadgets that is not required.

Great advice above from Flapper. I gave that a shot with the "P" key, and it works really well!! The reset button (space bar) puts the plane right back in mid-air where you pressed P.

This question got me thinking, and I realized that I practiced this orientation challenge while I was still working with helicopters, before I got into airplanes. I had some Blade coaxial helis (mCX2 and CX2), and those were good at hovering in place without a lot of control input. Then I had a Blade 350QX, which was an outdoor-size quad with GPS position assist. Because the models hovered in place, I had to command them to go forward, and if they started going the wrong way, just letting off the sticks made them stop in mid-air. That's much more forgiving than a plane that has to keep moving forward to stay airborne. It was easy to point one of those aircraft with the nose toward me (at a safe distance) and then practice moving left/right and turning (yaw/rudder) left/right.

There are some multi-rotor helis in RealFlight with GPS assist. The easiest one to see is the "Quadcopter X", and another choice is the "Hexacopter 780 (GPS Modes)". For either one. you need to set the flight mode switch to "Loiter" to make it fly. Throttle stick makes it go up or down; centered throttle stick makes it maintain the current altitude. Elevator makes move forward or back. Aileron makes it move left or right, just like an airplane. Rudder input will make it turn the nose left or right, also similar to an airplane.

I don't know if the basics of learning to fly a "drone" would be more confusion than it's worth. Just throwing another idea out there.
 
Yeah, I use the "P" trick a lot - but still have big issues with mastering rolling circles! But at least I can fail many more times in a single session that I could if I had to take off each time.

I read this somewhere, it was suggested that when your plane is coming towards you. Whichever wing is tipping down, move the aileron control in that direction and it will come up, stop when you're level. Try that, it helped me.
 
Good tip! It too can help. If you have time to think your way through it. If the plane is getting away from you too quickly before you can remember what to do, slowing down the physics speed can help - giving you more time to accomplish it. Increase speed as it becomes more automatic.

The Drone idea looks like it might be easier for me as they do move slower and stop when the sticks are released i'll give them a go as well.
