Compass Models Warp 360

KE should hire you. You do as good or better work than they do. (You'd get paid, and you wouldn't have a poly limit!! :p)

I agree that someone should be paying him to do this stuff. I've said so in the past. He is good and he is fast. I manage software projects but if I had this kind of work, I'd certainly think of him right away.

Thanks guys. It is coming together fairly quickly but I haven't been able to work on it every day. Things always slow down once the mapping starts. I have finished the real build except the electronics which I haven't purchased yet. I have discovered a great poly saving technique for cylinder objects with varying diameters or extrusions . It has helped the poly count quite a bit on this model. I will most likely make a tip or a vid covering the idea. It is very useful for helis simply because they tend to be cylinder heavy.

It's getting closer. I have the coll mesh done and the blur discs. The wiring has a good start. I would like to add a BEC to the mix. Triangles are at 18,821. This one will have all the details I usually would like to add to the helis I do.

This is after 8 hours of mapping! There are so many little parts and they are all mapped. The polys are 19,880. Very little room for more objects. Anyways I still have the entire naming, parenting and pivots to do before it's ready for RF, but that shouldn't take a whole lot of time. The big plus is it is ready for the CS work now.

I started on the CS finally. I bought the new computer and had MoBo bios issues that kept me from getting to the Warp. I have everything working fine now.
Anyways I have been thinking about the CF for this and future models. I like how real CF has a dark to light shift depending on the lighting angle. By manipulating the spec map i was able to achieve the effect. The last 2 shots attempt to demonstrate the result.
As for the rest of the CS it is coming along nicely. I started in photoshop on this one this morning.

Would you care to explain? I have the canopy in front of me and It looks identical to me. Do you have the model? Show some pictures if you can.

The nose looks too elongated to me, like its stretched out to far forward. The heli looks great though.

The CS is getting very close to being finished. I still have some tweaking to do with the physics as well. This is what I have after tonight's CS session.

Aside from maybe a tweak or two the CS is done. I wanted the belts, which of course are static, to look as if they are moving. The belts have writing on them but while in motion the text turns into long lines so I replicated that. It still needed something more so I moved a few of the edges on the main gear just outside of the belt. As the main gear spins these edges break up the white lines and really help to create the illusion the belt is moving. Screenshots can't convey the effect but the black vertical lines in the belt are the main gear edges. Overall I'm happy with the end result. Now I just need to get the physics tuned in.
