Lost the cdr drive (F:) and tried to use the cdrw drive (E:). It a yamaha CDR4416.

Damn paranoid scheme is keeping me from using what I have been using through 2 upgrades and two add-ons.

Never going to support them until they stop treating customers like criminals!

Already tried that. Same problem. Apparantly the customer abuse scheme checks for idiosyncracies in the cdrom that the yamaha doesn't preserve.

Try downloading the fix for CD read problems. Tha t might fix it.

Or...

...Just swap drive letters in Windows. To do this, right-click My Computer, and then click Properties. Then click the Device Manager tab, and then extend the CDROM list. Give the CD-R drive the CD-RW's drive letter, and vice versa, and then restart. I know that it seems really retarded to do it for just one program, but it's the best advice that I have...

Ralford, did you get it fixed?

If so tell us what you did.

We need a branch of these discussions, where we only post the fixes that worked, so that when a problem comes up you don't have to go back thru thousands of posts.
