Custom Color Schemes for RFE Airplanes

I'm a newbie to RFE and the forum but already would like to create a custom color scheme for the B-25 Mitchell.
I don't want to change how the plane flies just it's cosmetic appearance.
It appears there are ways to do this but I have no idea where to even start.
Any help pointing me in the right direction would be greatly appreciated.

Press the "Esc" key, scroll down and click on "My Realflight", from the that drop-down list select "Save Color Scheme As", give the new color scheme a name, I just called it "B-25 Color" (See pic#1).
The color scheme (TGA) gets saved in Documents\Realflight Evolution\Vehicles\Color Schemes, (see picture#2)
Open the B-25 Color.tga file in your editing software, change the colors and save the TGA file, confirm overwrite, and be sure to save the TGA file as 32 bits/pixel.
As you can see, I used colors that are "Vivid" just as a visual example. (See pic#3)
Now go back to RF Evolution, select the B-25 and notice the Color Schemes Icon (See Pic#4) will have changed from greyed out to blue background, click the icon and select B-25 Color, (See pic#5)
The B-25 appears in RF with its new colors.

Wow, already in over my head.
May I ask, what TGA editor are you using?
How did you edit the colors so quickly???
You can download "GIMP" (just google it) It`s a FREE image manipulation program. Once you`ve done that, you can do what asj5547 has suggested, and import your "new" .TGA file name into "GIMP" and make changes as you desire, then "SAVE" your changes in gimp, and import the new CS (color scheme) changes into RF (RealFlight) while the plane is on the runway, You do that by clicking on "AIRCRAFT", then "SELECT COLOR SCHEME" (in the drop down menu) and then click on the new name that you`ve created.

I use Photoshop but Gimp is a good option too, search YouTube for videos on using Gimp.
I've got GIMP installed and running but am at the bottom of the learning curve on how to do the desired edits.
Not sure I can afford to expend the time / energy to figure out how to do what I wanted to change.

What I wanted to end up was the airplane called Miss B Havin which I thought would be pretty straightforward...
1) Change all of the sand / tan coloring to OD so the plane is all OD.
2) Change the ring on the engine cowls from red to flat yellow.
3) Change the emblems to a different USAAF style.
4) Change the nose art to Miss B Havin.

Your example gave me hope considering you did it fairly quickly but just my luck that I would pick an airplane that has an in-depth color scheme.
Someone spent a lot of time creating the original.
If you are willing to send me a PM, I would like to first understand how you changed the colors so quickly yet left the panel lines intact.

Do you want the Lady and the Miss B Havin text on both sides of the fuselage nose, or just one side like some of the pictures?

I got to the point where I have the .tga file open in GIMP. Can anyone point me to a GIMP tutorial on how to make the edits. I have a single page with a bunch of shapes on it. I can't figure out how to select one and change the color.

Skulle vara roligt att göra denna plan.Men vett ej hur man gör

RFX files are ZIP files. Append ".zip" to the end of the file name and you can open the file like any other zip file. Then you will see your TGA file.

Hello guys, when I export my CS Files, its an RFX file, cant seem to find a TGA File. Any Help?
Are you attempting to package a custom CS you have created in order to share it with others? Or are you attempting to save colorscheme files to disk from RealFlight in order to edit them?

The export options in RF are for accomplishing the former. For the latter, choose the Save Color Scheme As option.
