How to get RealFlight Nexstar Edition to work with Windows 7 64 bit.

Like many, I purchased the Nexstar which still ships with an old version of RealFlight (Ver 2.00.709)
I was unable to get the installer to work on my Windows 7 64 bit laptop.

Here is what I did to get it to work:

Insert the CD.
Copy the CD:\Standard\program files\RealFlight NexSTAR EP Edition directory
to a location on your hard drive.

Open up the directory and Right click on the RealFlight.exe file and select Properties.
Select the Compatibility tab
Check the Run this program in compatibility mode for:
Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
Exit the settings and double click on RealFlight.exe to start the program.

Also Worked fine with the Great Planes Futaba USB adapter.

Yup, that should also work with G2 as well.

However XP compatibility mode does not work with ALL versions of Win7... I believe only with "Ultimate".

There are workarounds posted on the internet about dealing with that.

I recently up-graded to windows 7 and couldn't get my Real Flight software to load. I contacted their tech service and one of their techs, Stan, talked me through a very complicated work around to get the program to load. It took 10-15 minutes. Stan was very friendly and helpful. The program works great and I continue to enjoy using it. Thank you Stan and thanks to Real Flight.
