I have an Older Controller

I have my old controller, but I can not find my disks, nor do I remember if I registered it under a now-defunct email. Is it worth keeping? I do not remember which version of the old software I had. I THINK it can work with Evolution since it is an ELITE with the InterLink. Are there benefits to getting the newer controller? If not, I should be able to get the RealFlight Evolution on Steam, and it should work.

If you scroll down to the FAQ for the Interlink Elite, ( Real Flight FAQ's) you'll see it is compatible with RF 4 thought 9, which means it also works with Evolution. No registration required with Evo. Evolution will recognize almost anything that Windows sees as a joystick/game controller, additionally. Some high end real transmitters can also be used with a wired connection, and there are a couple of "dongles" you can plug in to have a wireless connection (primarily the better Spektrum TX's or OpenTX/EdgeTX transmitters for the wired/dongle options).

Your Elite is limited to 8 control channels, and the reset button. The Spektrum dongle to 8 channels only. They are fine for most day-to-day general airplane use. One gets limited if the plane has SAFE/AS3X, and for using throttle hold with heli's.

The latest Interlink DX has far more functions, most relating to controlling the menus and selections in RF. It's plug and play, the others may need some or a lot of custom configuration (yours only a little). It's new, so no fears of dust/dirt/corrosion rearing its head. Just for that, it may be advised. You save about $15 if buying the bundle, vs deciding to get the Interlink DX later.
