Making Skins

Can someone help me or suggest how to get started and point me in the right dirrection so I will learn how to make my own skins. What sotftware is needed and what reading material is suggested, and what is EASY to practice on so I can fly one of my own???

Any graphics program that will handle .TGA file extentions will work. I use Paint shop pro 7, its around 70 bucks or so.

Use any skin, start G2 make some changes load it in teh sim and see what it does, it wont take long to catch on. It may be easier to start with one that someone has edited already and has few colors and patterns.
