Master List

I bought RF Evolution a few weeks ago. I'm disappointed by the selection of airplane models. They are mostly small parkflyer types. I was expecting at least some of the larger FMS warbirds to be included. Are they/were they available on another version? Is there a master list of all aircraft available on RF? Also, I usually fly 1/5 and 1/4 scale models irl. Are larger models like some of the Balsa USA WWI models and Ziroli/CARF/Meister WW II available anywhere?

Thanks in advance for any info.

Mike

Real Flight used to have some relationships with more third party producers of models, and would include them as either default or included in separately purchasable sets. As we are all aware, many of those companies a no longer with us. Additionally, with the acquisition of RF by Horizon Hobby, the selection has tipped toward models sold by Horizon, mostly in the offerings for new "DLC's" (Downloadable Content) for additional cost. To their credit, they did try to bring forward all of the previously released models in one big bundle, with the stock install of Evolution. Only missing are planes that they could not get new permission to replicate. Horizon likely is not too keen on spending resources on featuring other competitors products...

But, RF has a very deep history of user created models. The Swap pages here are where they are all located. Organization is pretty lacking, so it may take several runs using different search terms before concluding that a particular model is not available. Sometimes the terms used will include the manufacturer, sometimes not. Search forum posts for the manufacturer/plane name, also - someone else may have asked about it, and been given a link that you never would have thought would get "that" name.

While organized by version of Real Flight, in reality even really old version models will work in Evolution. For very old ones, graphics quality may not be quite as good, and due to software changes to physics, they may need a bit of adjusting for ideal flight. More recent versions (RF 7 and above) should generally just work.
The likelihood of your finding specific FMS or BUSA models will be pretty high if a bit older. Semi-recent releases may not be out there, only because those with the skill to create models may not have had a specific interest.
There are three types of models -
"CS" labeled, which are new Color Schemes for a given plane. The page will have a note or link to tell you which base model you need to have first.
"AV" - "Alternative Vehicle". Appearance will be the same as the original RF (or swap page) model it is based on, but the aerodynamics, and perhaps the overall size, have been changed - sometimes very radically. A users variation to make a stock plane fly just like a specific version, at least in their estimation.
"EA" - "Entire Aircraft" - The user/designer used 3D modeling software to replicate the plane from scratch, including color schemes and flight characteristics. It literally may take the person as many hours to do this as it would take to build a real model from scratch.....hence it has to be something they really want to do.

With the Aircraft Editor in RF, you can make your own "AV's". With free graphics software (GIMP) or Photoshop, you can make your own color schemes. Making EA's means a deep understanding of 3D modeling software.

Here's a page that shows every aircraft and flying site included in Evolution.

Once you get to the section of the page with the little pictures of each plane, put your mouse pointer over those pictures and use the scroll wheel to scroll through them. If you simply scroll the page using the scroll bar on the right edge, you'll miss 90% of them.

In a nutshell, I've used the Aircraft Editor in RF to change a sort-of-close model into one that flies just like my real. The look may not change, but the size and flight characteristics do. Lots of measuring of parts and changing their shape/position in the physics section. But it can be gotten to the point where the RF version has all the quirks of the real. And I can then play with modifications in RF that actually fix any problems there real may have.

Apologies - my Italian is non-existent.

Here's one: https://forums.realflight.com/index.php?resources/cessna-337-rf7-5-v2_av.20754/
It is based on a very old version, and updated to work in RF 7.5, so should be just fine with Evolution.
Note at the bottom of that page is a link to the original very old one, which you need to install first. Then install the one from the above link to update it.
There are links for additional color schemes, but nothing for the military 0-2A scheme. That you can do yourself, using an external graphics editor like Photoshop or GIMP (which is free). Search these forums (especially ones for different versions) for posts about how to do it. The methods have not changed in a very long time.
