We are pleased to announce that RealFlight version 9.00.021 is now available as a free public beta download for all versions of the software (DVD, Tower Hobbies Digital, and Steam)!

Highlights include a big multiplayer change (see this post for more details) and new aircraft variants set up with more pro-level functionality to take advantage of the broad InterLink DX feature set. Fly them, enjoy them, and study them so you can create your own!

Release Notes

Features
  • Multiplayer is now merged with sessions and players from RealFlight 7 and RealFlight 8
  • Added 11 new "InterLink DX" aircraft variants configured for separate rates. Aileron, elevator, and rudder rates are each controlled by a separate switch. (Any controller with enough input channels can utilize this; in practice that mostly means the InterLink DX.)
  • One of the new "InterLink DX" aircraft variants is also configured for triple rates. Each rate switch (aileron, elevator, & rudder) has low, medium, and high rate values.
  • Increased the number of vehicle receiver channels from 12 to 15. This allows all 15 InterLink DX channels to be used simultaneously on a single vehicle.
Improvements/Fixes
  • Display names for InterLink DX input channels are more descriptive
  • MFC aircraft and airport selection dialog layouts are adjusted to better support content with long names
  • Radio profiles where channels are not mapped straight across (input channel 1 is mapped to output channel 1, etc.) work properly in the trainers, with autopilot, and with FlightAxis Link
  • Welcome dialog: Fixed an outdated tip

How to Get It

To gain early access and help test:

DVD and Tower Hobbies Digital versions
  1. Start the RealFlight Launcher
  2. Click Technical Support
  3. Click Enter Tech Support Code
  4. Enter the following code: PBEC#jqxfc32hq2af
  5. If successful, you will see a message saying "You are now registered to use the Public Beta site until the new version is posted to official download site.")
  6. Click Update to Specific Version, choose 9.00.021 from the list, and click OK.
Steam version:
  1. Right-click on RealFlight 9 in your Steam Library, then select Properties
  2. In the Properties window, select the Betas tab, and click the dropdown list
  3. Select "publicbeta"
  4. Close the Properties dialog
  5. Wait for RealFlight 9 to update. If it doesn't do so immediately, you can force an update by completely restarting Steam. To do so, right click the Steam icon in your system tray and select Exit. Once everything closes, run Steam again, and the update should complete. (This is also the fix if the publicbeta branch does not show up for you.)

This is what the more descriptive InterLink DX input channel names look like in context. With so many channels it makes them a lot nicer to work with!
