Program crashing when I press the esc key.

There is a pull-down menu that appears briefly across the top when start RF evolution and it is loading itself. I cannot seem to get at this menu. When I press esc the program crashes. I'm trying to configure a controller for RF Evolution Steam version I'm assuming these settings are in the pull down menus which I can't get at since I can't find them anywhere else.
 
What is your CPU and GRAPHICS? Are you using a Laptop with built-in and add-on graphics. There are problems so we need to know that to help.
