Question about orginal Real Flight Music?

This is from a question I asked at RCU but haven't gotten an answer yet.

"I know this is an odd question but does anybody know which version of Real Flight had that catchy electric kind of music? It was either the original Real Flight, G2 or both. I know that it was the same music they used in Real Race as well. Anyway, I use to have one of the older versions of Real Flight and really liked that music that was built into the simulator. I was hoping to find it somewhere on the internet to download (the music files only) but can't find it anywhere.

So if somebody could point me in a direction of how I might get my hands on those music files I'd greatly appreciate it!

I think I just have a lot of great memories practicing my flying while listening to those songs and they just grew on me.

Thanks in advance, Eric. "

If your looking for the exact tunes that were on G2 I'd ask KE. My friend has G2 and I remember listening to it but I could not tell you what it is?

With the exception of a classical piece or two, the RealFlight G1/G2 music was all composed and performed by Knife Edge Software owner Scott Kemp, although a couple of people lent helping hands. The RealRace G2 music was all purchased from outside sources, except for the theme/opening music, which was a modified version of RealFlight G2's theme music.

That music is not available for download. The one place you can hear it is in the RealFlight screensaver that ships with G3 and G4. If you have installed either of those versions of RealFlight, the screensaver should be available in the regular screensaver selection dialog.

I appreciate your reply. I don't own the later versions (though I did buy and use G3 for a while but sold it a whlie back. So I guess there's now way for me to listen to it other than buying the simulator.

I just wanted to hear the music (memory lane kind of thing). Are there demos with that music that I could download or anything else you could think of?

Thanks in advance, Eric. :)

I did read the above post but I appreciate you repeating it verbatim for me. :D

I even tried youbube but all the videos of Real Flight have other music.

Anyway, I was just seeing if I could find a way to hear the old music. I wan't expecting to run in to copyright infringement issues.

Thanks for at least clarifying which versions have the music I was looking for. Eric.

Seems the only way you can hear the music is get G3 or G4 and use the screen saver. No demos have the music.

This is not the first time I've heard about a G3 screensaver. How do I activate it? It is not in my list of screensavers.

Same here i dont have it in my list of screensavers also, i started out with G3. Can you get the file off the install disk using the run browse method?

It looks like I gave some incorrect information. The screensaver was added to the G3.5 disks, so if you purchased an earlier version of G3 you won't have it. We don't include it in online updates because it's fairly large and it's just a fun extra Great Planes put together since we had extra space available on that third G3.5 disk. If some of you with G3 disks are interested in having the screensaver, I could make it available for download. Let me know.

I would actually love to have it. Thanks for finally clearing up why some of us have it and some don't. I don't mind the download.

I've uploaded both the G3.5 and G4 screensavers in case someone who doesn't have G4 would like to see more pictures from it. You can download either one, or both. Right-click the link(s) below and save it/them to the directory on your computer where screensavers are stored.

Win98/ME: C:\Windows\System
Win2000/XP/Vista: C:\Windows\System32

RealFlight G3.5 screensaver (54.0 MB)

RealFlight G4 screensaver (35.5 MB)

Note: links to both of these screensavers now appear on the Support page as well.

Hate to wake a decades old thread... but out of a burst of nostalgia and missing my old hobby of flying RC planes, I went out and bought RF Evolution. It's been great, mostly, so far... but there are many things I miss about G2. Particularly the music and the old-timers yelling things at me from the pits! Is there still a way to get those screensavers so I can hear the tunes again? The above links no longer work.

Thanks!
