Realflight Evolution and TrackIR Headtracker

Anyone using TackIR with Realflight Evolution?
I can't get it working. Tried entering TrackIR into the command line and it states "TrackIR not available"
I've tried a bunch of things I found in the internet but nothing works yet.
TrackIR works with X-Plane so it has to be something in the connection.
My System:
  • ntel Core i9 14900KF (3.2GHz) Processor
  • 64GB DDR5-5600 RAM
  • NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 SUPER Graphics Card
  • 2TB NVMe SSD
  • 2.5GbE LAN, 2x2 WiFi 6E (802.11ax), Bluetooth 5.3
  • Windows 11 Pro
Any help would be apreciated.

Not on the list from TrackIR of supported games.
Very limited use in RF as you either should always be looking at your model, if flying from a pilot station, or in front of you as you fly if doing a cockpit view. Both of which are already available in the sim. Greatly less common are FPV models that allow one to look around while in the cockpit. A niche function in the broader RC world, so not surprising that it was never implemented. Phoenix seems to be the only RC Simulator that used it, and that software is long dead (although somewhat community supported, still - if you can find a CD and a dongle for it).

Thanks for the reply but I have to diagree with some of your points.
Website shows that it is supported. (see attached).
Also, if you search TrackerIR and Realflight there are several older posts in different forums where people were using it.
Additionally, when flyin a model, especially in Realflight, its handy to be able to glance over at the end of the runway and judge your aproach and hight above the spot where you want to touchdown.
And if not useful why are there quite a few people who are using VR headsets with RF?

Time to eat some crow - yes, I missed it in their software list.
And I did, at your prompting, do a deeper dive and searched for TrackIR, Track IR, and Tracker IR.
Seems like reviews are a bit mixed, but one could at least do a limited glance toward the runway end to help with lining up. I didn't read all the old posts, but I got the impression that its use kind of faded away after RF 7. There is one post from Ryan Douglas (a RF employee who sometimes drops in and answers things) about needing to enable it via a command line prompt. And another about how it has to be up and running before opening RF.

I assumed more limitations than it might have. A cheaper replacement for VR ($175)? It would be interesting to hear if you can get it going, and see some clips of how it works with Evo. There were some good summaries of that back in the RF7 posts, but would be interesting if you can agree/disagree or note if it has improved.

I do use VR a fair amount, so no need myself - but if it seems to be viable, others may find it something to consider, after all.

I found the same thing, not sure why. There were som interesting posts with video from cockpit view.
Almost like using RF as a flight sim.

I tried the command prompt and RF came back with "TrackIR not available". Not sure if that means that it isn't available in RF or if RF just doesn'r see it. I did have it up and running before starting RF. Also, other info on the internet said to unpug the camera and plug it back in while the program is running.

I'll keep trying as I can to get it working. If so, I'll post bacxk any results.
FYI: it works great with X-Plane.

I'll tag @Ryan Douglas so he gets notified of this thread. He posted that he will be out for an unknown amount of time, but perhaps he can either give some insight, or have it officially logged as something to look at by the developers, when he gets back. Perhaps an issue due to the changes in DirectX that RF had to go through.

I know for a fact that TrackIR works. I do have Evolution and I am also getting the TrackIR not available in the command prompt, but I also still have RF 9.5S and it works great. I would love to know also when "anyone" can say or help us in making it work with Evo. I just sent Ryan a conversation starter with our question about TrackIR. I'm hoping I will get a response, soon if not right away

Hello MidnightFlyer, I am having the same issue as you are with TrackIR, but the picture you included has a date in the top right corner of
01 Oct 2005. I don't know if you have RealFlight 9.5 or 9.5S still, but I just used TrackIR with that older version and it works fine. I started a separate conversation with Ryan also, and now I am waiting to hear back from him.

@rcflyernc2001, thanks for sticking with us for so long! That is impressive.

We have not intentionally changed anything with regard to TrackIR support. However, we also no longer have any hardware with which to test! I find it very interesting that it works in 9.5S for you but not Evolution.

I will look into this a bit further and see if I can figure anything out. What version of the TrackIR software are you using? If I can install that same version which is known to work in previous RF, perhaps I can learn something even without a device.

Hello Ryan, :)
Thank you for responding to both of my questions. I am using the TrackIR version 5.5.3, which is the latest version. Yeah, I get your confusion about my TrackIR working with 9.5S, but not for Evolution. All I ever get is that TrackIR is not available even though there is an option for it in the View tab (in the Legacy Menu). I still love using it in RealFlight 9.5S because it works almost like being at a club field, where I am standing there and turning my head to keep it in my view (like usual). I will reply to your message about the Server Message, after I try doing it again.

Talk to you soon, Happy Flying,
Jay
