Yes. You have to assign a switch to one of the eight channels on the NX8, and then you'll need to configure the Controller Profile such that the channel for that switch is associated with RealFlight Channel 8 (Mode).

Thanks for the quick and complete response. I'm using USB, but also have the dongle. I've copied both writeups.
Forgive me for picking your brain, but the first time I started up Evolution on Steam I chose the Eflite Apprentice STS (LAS & GPS) the mode box showed in the lower right corner. It has not appeared since. Any thoughts?

That box is called the Flight Mode widget. You can toggle it on and off with the 0 (zero) key. You may have hit that key by accident.
