Not sure if this has been mentioned before, but every once in a while the pull down menu of coordinate system choices goes blank.
A search for a fix showed some suggest solutions as drastic as reinstalling 3ds max. One offered solution was to first select a custom UI and then again select the default UI.
Happened tonight for the first time in awhile, and the solution that worked was to reset the default UI:
