It checks all my boxes and also delivers very high visibility in rolling circles at longer distances.

only my second attempt...To be honest I'm just copying other folks Schemes TGA files and then modifying them to fit my favourite plane ...but still takes a while...
I had to cheat the underside a bit to create that checkered effect...there's no actual underside profile... it just automatically fills in half way across on each side profile. Really really enjoyed doing it with GIMP software.
