Unexpected Error...

I have been using this on my laptop since Christmas of 24. My kids want to fly on it, so we installed it on our home PC, everytime we try to use it, i get an "unexpected error message, and it asks if i want to send an error report to the Realflight team?" What coule be the problem? I have a new PC with Windows 11, AMD Ryzen 9 processor, and AMD Radeon RX 6600M GPU with the latest Adrenalin 24.12.1 driver update.

Please help!!

You'll need to check and see if Microsoft is "backing up" your computer using OneDrive. Rather than just making a backup copy of things, it literally moves your Documents, Pictures, and Desktop items to a different location on your hard drive where OneDrive can monitor them. RealFlight doesn't work with with that configuration.

You probably have a cloud icon in the lower right corner of the screen by the clock for OneDrive. Right-click it, and go into the Settings. (It should be a gear icon in the upper right corner of the box that pops open.) In the Settings area, check "Sync and Backup", and click the button for "Manage Backup". You don't want it to back up Documents, and you may or may not want for it to back up other things.

I have the same problem, after importing models. Do you habe any suggestions?

Already tried to uninstall and install the simulator but it doesnt word.

I am having this too. Rory tooley extra 260 started doing this

Make sure RFE is shut down.
Go to your Documents/Realflight Evolution/Vehicles/CustomModels folder and find the models folder that is causing the "Unexpected Error"", you mentioned the (Rory Tooley Extra 260) delete that folder and next scroll down in the CustomModels folder to find the related .bse file and also delete that.

There are a few different people reporting problems in this thread, and they may not all have the same cause. I'll talk about a few different things you can try that will hopefully help.

If you have eliminated OneDrive as a factor, other likely causes are a problem with custom content or something getting corrupted with one of the RealFlight files on your system.

The first thing I would do is go to your <Documents>\RealFlight Evolution directory and delete the \Cache subdirectory. This probably won't help, but it's completely harmless and easy, so it's at least worth trying.

(If you're running a RealFlight version earlier than Evolution, simply replace the directory name above with your version as appropriate.)

Next, try deleting or renaming your \Vehicles subdirectory. This will prevent RF from seeing and loading any custom content. If that solves the problem, you can try selectively reimporting things until you identify which one causes the problem, then either remove it manually following steps like @asj5547 put forth above (though also check your \Vehicles\ColorSchemes and \Vehicles\CustomVehicles dirs) or repeat the above method to start over fresh once again and this time reimport only the things you know are safe.

If none of that helped, delete or rename your RealFlight64.ini and try again.

Let us know your results!
