Running RealFlight G5 on a computer without a C: drive

Versions prior to 5.00.032 will not properly store serial numbers if there is no C: drive present. When valid serial numbers are entered into the serial number entry dialog, the OK button becomes enabled, but clicking it does not store the serial numbers. Instead, the Launcher appears with almost all of its button grayed out, and the top button says "Enter Serial Numbers". Clicking that button brings up the serial number entry dialog again, and the user gets trapped in that loop. There is no temporary workaround.

A fix is now available for this issue. Version 5.00.032 fixes this problem and allows RealFlight to function properly regardless of whether or not a C: drive is present on the system. However, since users experiencing this problem are unable to perform an online update to obtain it, an extra step is required.

You will need to download an updated LauncherHelperG5.exe, save it over your current version, then perform an online update. Follow these steps:
  1. Right-click this link, choose "Save Link As..." / "Save Target As...", and save it in X:\Program Files\Common Files\KnifeEdge (replace "X:" with the drive letter where Windows is installed on your system).
  2. Run the RealFlight G5 Launcher.
  3. Enter your serial numbers as directed. Click "OK" to store them and perform the RealFlight activation step.
  4. After the main Launcher dialog appears, perform an online update to the latest version.

RealFlight will now run as expected on computers without a C: drive.
