This is the first of two helis from Compass models I will be modeling. This one is the Warp 360. It's a 450 class heli. There are a lot of carbon fiber parts on this one and the design overall is pretty unique. I have this model in hand so I have all the reference I need. This is today's progress and polys are at 4,676.

Here is more progress on the Warp 360. Most of the work is between the blade holders and the Main gear. Polys are at 8656 including the canopy seen in the other shots.

Looking good Boof as usual.

You have this model?? It has a interesting head setup on that heli. No dampeners or feathering shafts from what I read about it.

Yes I have this one. I'm building it as I build this model. The feathering is supposed to be the job of the CF grips.

Little more progress. Polys are at 10,838.

KE should hire you. You do as good or better work than they do. (You'd get paid, and you wouldn't have a poly limit!! :p)

Thanks Jeff. That's the old dream I had a few months after I started modeling for the sim. Now all I want are more polys.

I put a few more hours in today with some good results. I decided the large hole in the side frames over the tail block were to noticeable a detail to trust to the bump map. I modeled most of the tail. I don't have any push rods done yet, but the servos are in they are modeled after the MKS DS95 micros. I enjoyed doing the drive train. The belts look nice to me. I still need Electronics. Battery, FBL unit (MicroBeastX), reciever, and ESC. Hopefully I can model the wiring too. This is were another 5k polys would be really handy. Also needed still are blur discs and coll mesh. Polys are at 13,635 with the whole model optimized as I go.

You should remove all faces that will never be visible. That will help your poly count.

More work on the Warp after helping someone move all day. All push rods are modeled, battery w/straps, microbeastX, and BEC. I still have blur discs, coll mesh, and wires to do. I just noticed I need to model velcro between the battery and the tray. Triangles are at 16,096.

Modeling is more accurate and fast when the model is sitting in front of you.;)
