Evolution Can I sell it on?

While you cannot sell or transfer steam software you can share it with "family" members.
Note that when you share your steam library only one of you can play a specific game at a time. So family sharing won't allow you to do multiplayer with a family member. You would still need to buy for each account. Family members do not need to live in the same household. However you will need to log in to the family member's computer at least once to enable the sharing.

It's interesting RealFlight went with Steam because steam takes a decent chunk of commission. Video game producers publish their games on Steam because it gives your game visibility to the community. Trying to publish a game without putting it on steam would be almost futile. However, most RF users are not gamers. Maybe RF is trying to tap into the gamer market. Steam provides all the infrastructure for licensing and software distribution so that would be the main benefit a producer would have from steam.

As other people have mentioned, not being able to sell your software has been accepted for a decade by the gamer community. That's why companies that sell used games are going out of business. It's so much easier to just buy a game on steam and get immediate access without having to go to the store. This is true for every digital store. Steam is just the largest by far for PC games.
