Beechcraft Model 18 with floats (small scale)

The Beechcraft Model 18, or "Twin Beech", as it was better known, was manufactured by the Beech Aircraft Corporation of Wichita, Kansas. This model saw service during and after World War II in a number of versions including the United States Army Air Forces C-45 Expeditor, AT-7 Navigator, AT-11 Kansan, and for the United States Navy, UC-45J Navigator and the SNB-1 Kansan. A low-wing monoplane of all-metal construction, with a semi-monocoque fuselage of light alloy, a cantilever tail unit incorporating twin end-plate fins and rudders, and electrically retractable tailwheel landing gear. Float or ski landing gear was to become optional. Standard accommodation provided for two crew and six passengers, and the initial powerplant installation comprised two 239kW Wright R-760-E2 radial engines mounted in wing leading-edge nacelles.

Modelled for RealFlight by Doug Kaye (DHK79).

Various adjustments for good flight performance in RF 7.5.

Flight controls include throttle, rudder, ailerons, elevator, landing flaps.

Fly with the channel 5 rate switch in the “High” position.

Channel 6 controls the landing flaps.

This is a smaller scale Beechcraft Model 18. No wheels on the floats, so amphibious operation only. Pleasant flying characteristics. Nice easy landings when using the landing flaps. A nice example of a smaller scale Beechcraft Model 18.
