Another version the Bristol F2B….this one serving with the U.S. Army in “Overall Tan”, representing the 20th Bombardment Squadron out of Langley Field, circa 1930
In the early 1970’s a neighbor knew me as the kid who loved airplanes… so gave me his old Army Air Corps Training Manual, dated February 1931…and in Fountain Pen on the first page:
“’S.M. Severs, 20th Bombardment Squadron, Langley Field Va.”
The cover itself had and awesome hand-painted image of their Squadron Insignia… a mustachioed guy in a Turban, wearing a cape, hurling a flaming bomb…the row of Maltese Crosses at the bottom were, to this kids imagination, all the planes he must have shot down! I carried it to school until the painting wore off, but I never forgot what it looked like…
Thank God for the internet, I was able to include it here
Thanks to all the guys who make the EA’s.
I could not do this without a top-notch color scheme already laid out for me to modify.
And thank you, Mr Severs… I still have The Book.
Enjoy
