Thanks again to Madratter for his awesome F2B color scheme that serves as the foundation for my latest endeavors….

Here is a British Surplus F2B, serving as yet another hand-me-down in the stable at the Marine Corps Aerial Gunnery School, Parris Island circa 1927…

Like Technoids fabulous Curtiss Jenny also serving at “the Swamp”, this F2B is a plain-jane utility bird in “Overall Light Gray”, with a mixed bag of insignia….flown and serviced by NCO’s who get the job done, Officers be damned!

Note the Gunnery Sergeant is flying, with Corporal “git-some!” training on the rear gun!
( period chevrons, no crossed rifles!)

The Bristol F2B was rugged, stable gun platform, and surprisingly fast (125-130 MPH) for a two-seater. Armed with a forward firing Vickers as well a co-axial mounted Lewis for rear defense (and the ability to carry 250 lbs of bombs!) she was one tough bird that served the Brits well in WW1…

Just the kind thing the hard-scrabble Marine Corps of the 1920’s wouldn’t mind putting to use, 10 years past her prime…

Semper Fi!
