F-14 Tomcat - Afterburners
Nice Looking model begging for 300+ MPH
Makes me think of Maverick making a left bank, with afterburners on and wings swept back ... hustling to get the bad guys at the end of 'TOP GUN'
Flight characteristics and controls modified to my preferences
3 Pos. Sw. - Forward = Air Brakes via Ailerons Up
Middle = Off
Back = Wings folded - for ground parking or manual flight
Dual Rate - Down =Afterburner on with a minimum of 75% Throttle
Rotary- Clockwise = Flaps down Position
Retract Sw. - Forward is Automatic Gear Up/Down
Back = Gear stays up during flight
With Retract sw. in Auto - Gear and Flaps are automatic. The Flaps go to the down position that is dictated by the rotary knob.
With the air brakes on, the elevators go into elevon mode to give more roll rate at low speeds.
This variant is slow in acceleration, using afterburner helps. (Takeoff)
Without afterburner 250 MPH ( enough to created some air turbulence)
With Afterburner 350 MPH + ( past air turbulence )
Looking at the Engine Intakes, I think some intake air can be seen swirling into to engines.
Missing is an opening cockpit
The Main Gear has a built in retract angle that exceeds the perfect up position. I had the option of either the gear going thru the top of the wing, or the gear doors not closing completely .... I chose the latter.
Aside from these items, The aircraft handles well and looks good flying with it's triangle shape.
