Nakajima B6N2 Tenzan.

The Nakajima B6N Tenzan was the successor to the B5N "Kate". Specifications issued to Nakajima in 1939 for the Japanese Navy called for a 3-seat carrier-based torpedo bomber with a top speed of 288 mph and a normal operating range of 1,151 miles.

It was the Imperial Japanese Navy's standard carrier-borne torpedo bomber during the final years of World War II. Due to its protracted development, a shortage of experienced pilots, and because so thoroughly did U. S. Navy Hellcat pilots dominate the air, Japanese pilots flying the B6N sank no Allied ships and failed to inflict appreciable damage.

By war's end in August 1945 Nakajima had completed a total of 1,268 B6Ns.

Various modifications for RF 7.5 to create realistic model flight performance. This model has a feature correct 4 blade propeller. The weathered paint scheme by Doug Schluter adds a nice visual element.

The usual flight controls plus landing flaps, folding wings, and a droppable torpedo.

Fly with the channel 5 rate switch in the “High” position.

Fly with the channel 8 three position switch in the middle position.

Folding wings - toggling the channel 8 switch to the position closest to you folds the wings. Toggling back to the middle position unfolds the wings.

Torpedo - toggling the channel 8 switch to the position farthest from you drops the torpedo.

Flying Notes:

A) The torpedo's weight does affect the model's flying characteristics.

B) Even though landing flaps are present, it lands quite well without them.

This is a nice example of WW II era Japanese technology. A fairly decent flying model.
