The Slingsby Swallow from 'Flight Club' in the BBC TV series 'James May's Toy Stories'.
This large semi-scale glider was built by the BBC and Brunel University to attempt a record breaking 'free flight' across the English Channel. Check out the programme on the internet:
(thanks dailymotion !)
The actual model was launched at altitude and used just a GPS and probably a gyro, the RC was just a safety back-up. This RF representation will need a hand launch on a slope and has simple 3 channel control.
I have tried to model the aircraft as accurately as possible, incuding the extra weight of camera gear and I even stuck a plastic bust of James May in the cockpit.
Hey James, if you, or any of your 'Flight Club' buddies, use RealFlight please let me know what I should correct on this model - but not your head, that stays.
