Win 2000 nuked
I just installed the G2 upgrade , but not DirectX8 and Win2000 rebooted just fine. I then downloaded and installed DirectX8 from the Microsoft site and my system gets through the first startup screen with a status bar and then I get funny black and white bars for an instant then a total black screen and that is where it all ends.
I was lucky to read of the Win2000 install problems so I had made a complete copy of the Winnt directory from a second installation of Win2000. I was able to delete the original Winnt directory and rename the copy and the system then booted to the pre DirectX install.
Quite the drag. I now have the coveted G2 upgrade and can't get it to work on an OS it is suppose to be compatable with due to the inability to be able to run DirectX 8.
