Error message????????

Hi,
I have been flying 3.5 for sometime and have a problem every now and then.
Sometimes when I download a plane I get a "Error' that says something like the plane I'm downloading now.

Error: D3DxErr_INVALIDDATA
File.\DXTexture.cpp
Line671

Error: D3DxErr_INVALIDDATA
File.\DXTexture.cpp
Line 513

If I press cancel enough times it will work but the plane has no color. Just white?
What am i doing wrong?
Thanks
Shaun

I can think of a few of them off hand

I think it was this cobra: https://forums.realflight.com/index.php?resources/1776

Also off hand I can think of a 50% extra, or maybe it was a edge that I got the same error code?

If I press ok or cancel several times it will allow me to fly the plane. It's just that the plane appers all white?

I have the same problem with two or three of the planes off the swap pages

Those are "shiny or glossy" models, could it be the video card or drivers that are having trouble rendering those effects?
Which video card are you all using?

Good call.

That is very likely.

The video cards may not be DX9 compliant.

Mine are compatible, most shiny models work, its just that one... That doesn't

Shiny, as meant to be shiny or not meant to be shiny as some people have had problems with? I see people in all chrome (Wheels included) planes online all the time that are not meant to be that way? I thought that some of the pure chrome schemes were a bad download of some type or a bad vid card?

Ok,
I'm not a computer geek. How do I find out what card I have?
Shaun

Post your diagnostic dump as per the third thread at the top of this forum.

Full instructions are provided.

I'm not having the same problem.

How about posting your diagnostic so we can see what you have.

That way the video card can be ruled out.

The dump was incomplete, I couldn't see the Realflight directories.
Are you using default install directory?
c:\program files\Realflight.....

I remember looong ago in the old forums,
I tried to install a model that did not use the default directory path and it caused problems with the color schemes.

I am using c:\program files\RealflightG3

Could you post the entire dump?

Also, have you tried reducing the display resolution to say 1024x768 then running G3's launcher and setting G3 to it's defaults.

Then try loading the plane and see if you have problems.

If so also try deleting the plane, removing any vestiges from the G3 program folders, and then re-installing.

It could also be that you have part of an earlier version causing problems.

Is this it?
