help please.....custom schemes

how do i edit the color schemes or just make a custom scheme for one of my planes on rf evolution.....i can get to the part where you save the scheme as a base from my real flight ...but after that what do i do and where do i go to actually start changing the scheme....been trying for a while now and i cannot figure it out
 
If you saved the color scheme and renamed it, then go to; Documents\Realflight Evolution\Vehicle\Color Schemes folder and search for the TGA file that you named, open the (Renamed.tga) in your graphics editor.
 
ohhh so its not done in the sim like the physics and electonics? whats a good free graphics editor that i may use , any recommendations.? thank you for your response
