Installing G3 on new laptop without CD drive

Hello, does anyone know if it's possible to install my old G3 on a new laptop without a CDROM drive? I tried copying the disk to a USB memory stick, but setup knew that it wasn't running from the CD. If I can't install it, is it possible to migrate my existing installation on my old PC to my new laptop?
