Newbie Trying to Download Airplanes

You can't install a variant (AV) of an aircraft until you've installed the original entire aircraft (EA). Unless you're installing a variant of an aircraft that comes with RealFlight that you already have on your PC.
On the web page where you download the variant from, look for the entry "Requires:"
Download and install the required aircraft first (EA), then you'll be able to install any variants and color schemes (CS).

you have downloaded an "Aircraft Variant" or AV
An AV is the end user editable flight physics model far A specific particular aircraft model
you are getting that error because you do not have the
Parent or Base model known as an"Entire Aircraft" or EA model that that AV is made for
go back to the swap page you got that AV from look for a "Requires" it will tell you what aircraft airport Free add -on Expansion pack or specific aircraft and version number it can be found in there should e a blue link to the aircraft" required' file if that file is at the swap page DL and Import it the same way you did the errant AV file. Everything should be fine
AVs make it possible to customize the RF model to more closely recreate the same model in Rf as in Real Life
never use the green arrow at the swap page you cant tell if theare are other files required always use the Blue links
