No sound (mostly) Windows 8

Ok I've been putting up with this for too long now.
I have to keep constantly hitting alt+enter to switch between fullscreen windowed
and back in order to get Helicopter motor sound to work.
I've been doing it for months it's annoying and it on every windows 8 and windows 10 installation.
Do not have the problem on Win7.

What gives and why has there not been an update to address this annoyance?

I don't have that issue at all on both Win8 and Win10 on multiple machines.

It may be related to an audio driver setting.

Do you have Windows set to allow sharing of the audio driver among different applications?

I believe I do for other reasons ( virtual instruments ), and may be the reason I don't see this issue on both HDMI and integrated Realtek devices.
