Nvidia 77.77 drivers break G3?

When trying to use G3 today, I am unable to start the program.
While loading the terrain, G3 takes a very long time and then I receive the message "Runtime Error! "
"Program: C:\Program Files\RealflightG3\Realflight.exe"
"The application has requested the Runtime to terminate in an unusual way."
"Please contact the application's support team for more information."

The only thing I believe changed on my system since I last ran G3, was updating the Nvidia Forceware drivers to the latest 77.77 version.

Attached is my system information.

Thanks!

Has anyone else tried those drivers? Did you have problems, or did things run fine?

I'll try to find someone to test it out here and see what happens.

I will rollback the Nvidia drivers, and test that when I get a chance.

Is it possible to change which airport/terrain G3 starts with, outside of the program?
Perhaps there is something corrupted with that particular scenery data.

You can try resetting the program back to defaults:

Run the G3 Launcher:

Start > All Programs > Real Flight G3 > Real Flight G3 Launcher

This will open up the G3 launcher.

Click "Additional Options"

Click "Restore Defaults"

Give this a try. At the moment we are working on reproducing the bug.

I uninstalled the 77.77 drivers, and then installed the older 77.72.

This seems to solve the issue for me, as I can now load/run G3 again.

If it helps, it gets 'stuck' while loading Sierra Nevada terrain.
It sits for a bit at 77/100, then hangs for a long time at 81/100 before the error message and crash.

Let me know if you need anymore information.

This doesn't sound like the source of the problem, but just to be sure you should try deleting the RealFlight.cmp-tcache file from your RealFlightG3\Temp directory, then starting the sim.

I just upgraded to 77.77 and G3 worked the same as before – no problems. I have a FX5900XT card.

I uninstalled the 77.72 drivers, and went back to 77.77.

Now G3 Loads and runs fine.

On one hand, that would leave me to believe there was never a problem with drivers, but on the other, that was the only thing being changed on my system.

The first post in this thread includes PC specs, but for the record this was a Nvidia 6800GT.

Thanks for the assistance,
Torq
