Quick status update

The RealFlight Team been very busy lately with a multitude of things. Some of that is lifted now with the release of 2024 Quarterly Content Pack 2 and a couple new updates (public & public beta). Some of it is ongoing.

As a result, I've been quiet lately on the forums simply due to lack of time. I wanted to give a quick update to let you all know we're still at it and to speak a little about the current state of RealFlight.

One big upcoming item is the release of an upgraded RealFlight Trainer Edition that runs on DirectX 11. That's coming soon. It's going to be a significant upgrade to the existing version even beyond the DX11 jump, and free for all current RFTE users.

We're also working on a change that will affect custom model creation. I expect there to be an adjustment period--hopefully small--but I don't expect it to really throw anybody once the kinks are worked out. I will add that backward compatibility is a priority; existing content should continue to work. That one needs more time to cook, though. I can't say any more right now, but of course will explain in full detail when the time is right.

Because of the above, we haven't been able to focus on any of the more recent bug reports. Rest assured they have all been documented as noted in the respective threads, and we will dig into them as soon as we're able.

I hope that helps!

”We're also working on a change that will affect custom model creation.”

Does this mean new models created here then won’t work on previous versions of RF?

I believe @1024kb was refering to the other direction. being new evo models still working in 7.5. not 7.5's models working in evo.

I expect it to stay relatively the same, old rf can import models but some things may not work like the safe features, custom props, custom engine sounds and weapon in versions that do not support them

Thanks Legoman, yes that was exactly what I ment. I was concerned I would no longer be able to use any of your new wonderful planes on my RF9.5s.
