Real Flight 7.5 Replacement

I have real flight 7.5 with the wireless controller. I installed real flight on my new laptop but the processor does not support DirectX. I tried to install the dll fix which kinda of worked but the controller doesn't calibrate correctly. The sticks do their own thing. Is there a software only version of real flight I can download to use with my existing controller? Not looking to buy a complete new real flight sim for 200 bucks.

You can purchase Realflight Evolution on Steam and use your existing controller. However, before I did that, I would ensure that windows can calibrate that controller through the Calibrate Game controller menu in Windows. If you have Windows 11 use the search function on the menu bar for "set up USB Game controller" and when the control panel app comes up try to calibrate the controller there or if you are seeing the same problem with the sticks, then something is wrong with your controller. You can try disassembling the controller, and use electrical contact cleaner spray on the gimbals, and see if it helps. They do get dirty over time and need to be cleaned. I have done that myself countless times to my Interlink Elite.

Windows is not seeing the game controller. Guess I am sol!
Do you have the InterLink Elite or InterLink-X controller? Both of them work with RealFlight Evolution. They don't have as many channels as the new InterLink DX controller, but they work. I'm using the InterLink-X with RealFlight Evolution.

Windows sees my old controller just fine. In some cases, a powered USB hub may be needed, as the computer doesn't supply quite enough wattage to allow the controller to be seen by Windows. Try other USB ports first, before running out to buy a hub.

with the wireless controller
I could be wrong, but I think I remember reading something here that there is one old RF controller that is not supported. It might be the original 15-pin (pre-USB) game port controller, but I think It was a wireless one. I've tried searching, but including "wireless" finds a zillion "dongle" posts - and 7.5 wouldn't have worked with a dongle, so Jack's controller must be something different. Especially since the copy/piracy protection was in the controller until RF8..

OPPS.. Yes my Windows 10 sees the InterLink-X but I've never been able to calibrate it in Windows. Can you? Maybe I'm doing something wrong. I edited my post and took out the part where I said Windows didn't see the InterLink Elite and InterLink-X controllers. Sorry about that.

I found that the order matters - in the screen shot that asj5547 posted, under "Installed Game Controllers", try deleting everything (with a reboot after) and then make sure the controller you want is the first thing plugged in, so it occupies the top spot on the list. Then you can plug back in all the other game controllers you have.
Can't say that this is the fix for all various Interlinks, every time...but it consistently worked in my one instance on two different PC's. At worst, it only costs a few minutes of time to try.

The InterLink-X is the "only" controller I have plugged in and is the first in the list. But when I try to calibrate it none of the controls does anything. The numbers never move.

Do you have the Interlink-X plugged into a powered USB hub?
I have problem calibrating the Interlink Elite in the Windows program when it is plugged directly into a USB2 port, but if I plug the Elite into a powered hub it calibrates in Windows and RF.

Thanks for the information. I don't have a USB hub of either kind, but it always works in RealFlight, so that's good enough for me. But that sounds like what my problem is. If I ever get a USB hub I'll try that out.

If the controller works for you that is great, what more can you ask for.
The reason I purchased the powered USB Hub was to use with the DX controller, when it was having the input/output delay issue in RFE, but recently my Elite controller kept throwing the "no controller connected" or "press reset button to validate" error message after a few minutes of flying, and forcing a program restart, but now with the hub I do not have any problems.
The Hub is USB3.0.

They should rework their USB controller, but that would be some bucks so I'm sure they won't. They really need to have it tested by an independent USB specialist for timing. I imagine that's where the problem is.

Most of the time I have all 3 Interlinks (Elite, DX and X) connected to the powered usb3.0 hub, and the hub connected to the usb3.2 port (red connector), so I can switch between RF7.5, RF8.5, RF9.5s, RFE and RF-X when testing my models for compatibility.
The interlink Elite is the only one that will not calibrate in windows if the other 2 are hooked up, but the Elite calibrates in RF with all connected, the DX and X calibrate with all 3 connected in Windows.

Okay thanks for the info.
