Both of those areas have raised metal panels with hard edges right next to the dark places. Those areas should look fine on the final model, once I've cleaned it up.

I believe your the artist to watch. Very observant and proficient with detail. I owned this model as a 1/5th scale scale years ago and was going to make a stab at modeling it but it seems you have it covered. Great job!

I'm back from my business trip and mini-vacation. And I think I have recovered enough from partying for three days with my brothers to resume work on this bird.

Not much has changed since I last posted screenshots, at least I didn't lose the files in a drunken stupor.

Added exhaust and a few more guy wires, so I think I'm ready to start mapping.

I've finished the UVW mapping, so if anyone would like to start on a more traditional color scheme than the one I've picked out. Here's the template file. I won't be able to post a static RF model until tonight, but I will do that so you can see what your scheme looks like in the editor.

Jungmeister

Looks like it could fly right off the page> Very nice scheme, I haven't decided what scheme I will be using yet.

Sunburst is done. Need to find a picture to tell if the sunburst also goes on the bottom of the tail.

EDIT: Never mind, I found one.

Most of the diffuse color is done. Still have the panel and a couple of spots on the wing, but I'm moving on to panel lines.

Hey Flex, one of the guys at my field has a Bucker in that same scheme. It looks really good in the air so it would be a good CS for someone to do. Who knows, I might do that one eventually ;)
