Please contact me at robmohr@tvg.comcastbiz.net if you are interested or need more information. I can provide details on motor, ESC, etc.

Thanks in advance for any help,

Rob

P.S. I could provide 3-view photos of the canopy pod replacement I use for mounting a GoPro Hero on a pan/tilt cradle. I will also check with the supplier of the pan/tilt cradle to see if they have 3-view drawings. Also, I can provide photos of the completed model with stock decals and hardware, etc.

Re: Request: Skywalker

In order to potentially sweeten the pot, I've put some photos together of my build of the Skywalker FPV. The main shots are 3-views of the pan/tilt arrangement supporting the GoPro Hero camera. I also captured the location of the pitot tube, and the custom landing gear arrangement i setup.

Pan/Tilt Side View (Note: GPS unit located just forward of wing attachment area behind pan tilt cradle)

I'm sure plenty of people out there, myself included, would love to be able to practice with the stock plane. Modeling of the camera with pan/tilt, gear, etc. while they would be fantastic, are of course not deal breakers here.

Not knowing enough about the modeling process (something I would very much like to address so that I could begin to make a stab at some of these projects myself), is it within the realm of possibility to start with a stock model of the aircraft, and then modify that to add other "features" later? Or is too much baked in from the start such that it would require starting over from scratch?

Your request and it's features would need to to be modeled as you cannot add geometry to existing models. Jeff said he would look it over when he's back home in a few weeks. If abaser or jeffpn don't model it for you I will but just be patient. If you push too hard we all just may move on to the next request.

A few days!
(Actually, I'll be home tomorrow, so if you've been using my house for your parties, you don't have much time to clean up!! You know who you are!!)

Boof,

No intention of pushing here. My earlier comment was intended to make sure that a prospective modeler did not turn their back on it because the initial request may have been more complicated than they were willing to tackle. If that were the case, and no one else had been interested, then a simpler implementation would have been a good compromise.

That Skyfly looks very nice. I did not realize that someone had done a working pan/tilt. I'll have to play with that one a bit. Thanks for pointing out the link.

[EDIT]
Flexible, very nice job with the pan/tilt cradle on that model. That is exactly what I was envisioning for the SkyWalker.

I missed this point. Another favorite of mine for requesting a model. That's the same way the guy who requested the Eratix did it. "It's an extremely popular plane, and I'm surprised it hasn't already been modeled for RF." I've seen that tactic several times, for planes I've never heard of before. Sorry, I don't believe it for a second. But I'll model it anyway.

Jeff you should put up an example request post so people know the exact way they should request. Awe heck that would be a long single post. Maybe you could put together a tutorial.pdf :D

The key to an effective post is very simple. I've said it a million times before. If you can intrigue a modeler, he will make your model, guaranteed. May be a tautology, but the point is valid. Declaring a model to be popular is not an effective way to intrigue somebody. Everyone thinks the models they have are the popular ones. Posting requests without reference pics and 3-views won't get you a model either. I don't think I've ever picked up a request that didn't have a picture. If I don't know what it is, why would I model it? Also, don't tell me to Google your model, saying there are tons of pics. If you can't bring the pics to me, why would I spend countless hours building you a model? If I do pick up your request, don't bail on me. I'm going to work on your model every day until it's done. I get impatient when I ask you a question in the build thread, and it takes you a couple weeks to answer me. I've seen one guy on the forums every day, yet he would not answer my question so I could continue with the build. If I pick up your request, you should be spending as much time in the build thread as I am. No excuse for my question to go unanswered for a 24 hour period. If you don't like my terms, I suggest you learn how to model. You can do it. Ask me how I know.

One last thought: when we're done building you your request, a 'Thank You' would be great. You'll receive no bill for our time. A little gratitude would be nice. I've had some people act rather ungratefully when their model is posted. I love to model, but I don't owe it to you.

So would it be ok if someone supplies good pics and 3 views but calls it a popular model or a challange?
I completely agree with you last point.

Look at this thread. He even called it a "good project" in the first post.

Here's the declaration of popularity in this request, first post.
https://forums.realflight.com/showthread.php?t=26175

Luckily for them, I was looking for a project when they made their stand-alone requests. I never would have/could have found those requests a week or 2 later, like I can easily do when models are requested in the proper thread.

As you know, I took up both of those requests. Each person was prompt in providing me with info as I needed it. Ironically, neither one of them said thank you when we were done.
