Uneven Aileron Travel using a Timber

Hello all

Just had to reinstall RF 9.5 after a PC replacement so I'm kind of starting over.
I had a lot of help earlier in the year, and am hoping for the same now.
There are several things not to my liking, so I'll take them one at a time.

I'm using a wireless dongle with an iX12 and that seems fine.
Using the software radio, or software dual rates and expo for a Timber.
Per the attachment, right aileron and flap have full span, full throw.
Left aileron and flap have partial deflection.
It rolls like crazy to the right, and hardly at all to the left.
Can't figure out how to fix that.

I'm a little fuzzy on Tx channel assignments versus what RF wants.
The iX12 has what's called, Channel Input Config, and Rx Port Assignments
Mine are as follows;

Tx Rx
1 Th 1 Th
2 Ail 2 Ail R
3 Ele 3 Ele
4 Rud 4 Rud
5 Gear Sw I Gear
6 Aux 1 Aux 1 Ail L
7 Aux 2 Sw H Aux 2 Aux 2
8 Aux 3 Sw C Aux 3 Aux 3

I had to set up a separate controller for the Timber and use the software radio to get the flaps working.
I have other planes that I use without the software radio, or software dual rates and expo.
Now I have to re bind the wireless dongle when I switch from the Timber to the other planes.

Is that the way it has to be, or am I missing something?

Thanks for any help
Bob

Yeah, you have it setup wrongly. Don't put the left, and right, aileron on separate channels. They should be on ONE channel together. This works pretty much by default, so start over... you have to try pretty hard to honk it up... which you have.

By the way, the real models work the same way. Standard wing with 'single' servo in the center. This confuses new users frequently; because they know they have two servos in the plane. The two servos come together in a Y connector and plug physically into ONE channel. This is normal, for commercial eflit planes, and most others too.

Thanks Marcus
I was wondering if, and hoping you were still around.

When you say start over, are you meaning in RF, or the transmitter?
And what about the flaps on the Timber?
Are they on a single channel too?

Is the rebinding thing normal?

So many questions...

Thanks again

Yeah, start over in both. In the transmitter, start with a default "Acro" memory slot, and in the Rf9.5 start with Spektrum Radio (7+Ch) for your profile , to begin with.

Just get the basics working first, throttle, ail, elev, rudder. (four channels) They are the defaults, and they should just work.

Yes, the flaps are on one channel; usually assign switch "D".

You may use the gear channel for other things... since the Timber doesn't need gear. But, typically (as a generic controller) assign switch "A" to the gear channel. Assign switch "B" to your 'mode' and use "H" for throttle cut, and |or throttle Hold.

Patience. learning new stuff takes time.

So, thanks to you I have ALMOST everything the way I like it.

I can't get the reset to go to switch "I" on the transmitter.
Any ideas?

Thanks for your help
Bob

I got the reset where I want it now.
Patience!

Now, is there an easy wat to get Crow, or is that just crazy talk?

Thanks Marcus

Huh
So does anyone here have a .ispm file I can look at to get an idea of what I need to do?

Thanks
Bob

Yes
There’s a bunch of top notch flyers I work with that use it on a Fun Cub at times and it’s neat.
Also, I have a Flex RV8 10e on preorder and want to get familiar with it.
Never owned a plane with flaps or crow, and now I’ll own three shortly.
Have a Bighorn now with an Aura and am tinkering with it to get flaps and crow going, but haven’t figured it out quite yet.

I use RF as a tool, more than a game type thing.
same transmitter and switch set ups as at the field.

Thanks
