Canadair CL-215

Canadair CL-215 was the first model in a series of firefighting aircraft built by Canadair. The CL-215 is a twin-engine, wing-over amphibious aircraft designed with the requirements that it operate well at low speed and in gust-loading circumstances, as are found over forest fires. It is also able to land and take off from short, unpaved airstrips.

This RF model was created by Doug Kaye from aircraft drawings.

RealFlight flight controls include throttle, rudder, ailerons, elevator, retractable landing gear, flaps, fire retardant drop.

Fly with the channel 5 rate switch in the “High” position.

Channel 6 controls the flaps.

Channel 7 controls the retractable landing gear.

Channel 8 controls dropping the fire retardant. Fly with the switch positioned closest to you. The middle position releases a moderate stream of fire retardant, and the position farthest from you puts out the full stream.

Another very nice model from Doug Kaye. It flies quite well, with a heavier, slower response feel typically felt in large, heavy, twin engined aircraft. The landing flaps are quite effective. Nice take offs / landings from off both water and land. Very pleasant to fly.
