F-35B STOVL.The Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II is a single-seat, single-engine, stealth-capable military strike fighter, a multi-role aircraft that can perform close air support, tactical bombing, and air superiority fighter missions.The F-35 is descended from the X-35, the product of the Joint Strike Fighter (JSF) program.The F-35B is the short takeoff and vertical landing (STOVL) variant of the Lightning which employs a Lift Fan positioned just behind the pilot which provides a counter-balancing thrust when the rear 3 Bearing Swivel Nozzle is deflected downward at the tail of the aircraft.Roll Control during slow flight is achieved by diverting pressurized air from the turbine through wing mounted thrust nozzles called Roll Posts.The G4 model also has STOVL capabilities which can be controlled via the 3 pos switch.Near position for normal flight,Middle position opens all doors and far position swivles rear nozzle downward for STOVL.Front left switch opens canopy and Top right switch is Retracts as normal.
