Lockheed P-3 Orion (larger scale model)

The Lockheed P-3 Orion is a four-engine turboprop anti-submarine and maritime surveillance aircraft developed for the United States Navy and introduced in the 1960s.

The P-3 Orion is a peerless airborne hunter. Its reputation as the ultimate submarine finder was earned through nearly 50 years of service, from the Cuban Missile Crisis to round-the-clock patrols throughout the Cold War.

With 435 aircraft worldwide operated by 21 governments and agencies in 17 countries, the P-3 remains a relied-upon asset today. Time and time again, the P-3 proves that it is remarkably well adapted for maritime patrol and support.

Uniquely suited as the world’s premier multi-mission maritime long-endurance aircraft, the P-3 performs air, surface and subsurface patrol and reconnaissance tasks over extended periods and far from support facilities

The P-3 Orion is still in use by numerous navies and air forces around the world, primarily for maritime patrol, reconnaissance, anti-surface warfare and anti-submarine warfare. A total of 734 P-3s have been built, and during 2012, it joined the handful of military aircraft including the Boeing B-52 Stratofortress, Boeing KC-135 Stratotanker and C-130 Hercules that have served 50 years of continuous use by the United States military.

Various modifications for RF 7.5 to get good model flight performance.

Standard flight controls including ailerons, retractable landing gear, landing flaps, and brakes.

As usual fly with the channel 5 rate switch on the “High” position.

Selecting the channel 5 “Low” position opens bay doors which are located behind the front wheels.

Landing flaps are lowered with the Interlink controller channel 6 rotary knob. Lowering the flaps also engages mild brakes.

Landing gear on the usual channel 7 switch.

This is a very good flying larger scale 4 engine model. It can do perfect flared landings. A nice addition for your RealFlight hangar.
